Re: Kevin Nolan
Centre half ?
When he picked Oxford he said wanted someone to sit & play as a centre half but not as a centre half ie someone who had defensive instincts and could drop in as an extra centre half but had the skills and mobility to play in midfield when required.
By my reckoning Nolan has the sitting covered. Probably with a pint in his hand.
Hopefully Obiang can step into that role with some support from Oxford when required and at centre half Nolan would be behind

daveyg

that is one of the most ridiculous things i ahve ever read on who, and after 15+ years thats really saying something.

has nolan ever played CB? no. does nolan have any pace whatsoever? no. does he do a good job as a defensive midfielder that might suggest to you he could do a mascherano role at CB? no. is bilic desperate for CBs? no, in fact he signed an international CB in the summer to provide further competition. has bilic deployed nolan in the CB role in any pre-season/europa game? no.

i am totally baffled as to where you have got that from mate, absolutely baffled.

Centre half? Eh?

Defensive midfield maybe but there is no chance in a million years he'll ever be played at centre back.

From what Bilic has been saying and the amount of game time Nolan has played it seems like for the time being he'll be apart of the team. I'm not happy about it but maybe Nolan can do a job. I have a funny feeling that Bilic might be trying to play Nolan as a center half or in the same role as Oxford. I actually think Nolan could play as a center half, he's a good reader of the game which can make up for his lack of pace. Further up the field he's a liability as his lack of pace will let him down.

On the same flight as the team from Auckland to Wellington last season. Waiting in the departure lounge and Carlton Cole's got a Crossword/Quiz book.

Nolan walks passed him and says 'who you trying to kid'

Although it's time for him to move on he's always given 100%.

Re: Kevin Nolan
The abuse this man takes from our supporters is a disgrace. Total embarrassment. I think the fact he was such a favourite under Big Sam doesn't help him. His wages are not his fault. He was excellent for us for a couple of seasons and came in and galvanized the squad at a time when we had just been relegated and the club was on it's knees. He is not good enough to start for us but in my opinion he is perfect to come on for last 15-20 minutes when we are winning, keep it simple and organise those around him.

Fifty-five bags a week, first name on the team sheet every week (despite some appalling performances over the last two seasons) and the Captain's armband for four seasons is enough credit I think.

44 goals?

Re: Kevin Nolan
Way past it, should be sold. But he did score 44 goals for us, not bad for a midfielder , especially since he's been shit for 2 years

Best Captain since Lucas Neill and still the best at the club.

I'd say he was up there with the worst captains we've had.

Absolute bollocks. Over egged his achievements massively there.

He was good and then steadily got worse.

Are you his agent/lover/family/friend?

Re: Kevin Nolan
....deserves a standing ovation from everyone in the ground when he leaves. Brilliant captain for us. Not the best footballer we've had but kept the squad in good harmony and in the championship he was the leader we needed.

Re: Kevin Nolan
NHD, we've had some good Scousers play for us and we have a top drawer one now in CRESSWELL. Nice to know that some of the Scousers who played for us absolutely loved it and the support, namely Stretch and Bish.

Putting up with him so he gets more game time is a lot more disgraceful if you ask me.

Re: Kevin Nolan
Booing him is not right. I think he is shit and not up to it anymore but he is our captain and wears our shirt so booing him is pretty disgraceful

Mr Polite 10:56 Wed Aug 12
Re: Kevin Nolan
He is going anyway so good riddance.

I won't bother booing if he ever returns to play against us - but I certainly won't give the fat chancer a good reception.
